Children’s Bureau

FRC Coordinator/Program Supervisor I

Location: Corbin Family Resource Center, Santa Ana

Division: Prevention
 

Under minimal supervision, the FRC Coordinator/Program Supervisor is responsible for overall

coordination and oversight of the staff and activities at the Family Resource Center; coordination and

planning with all partner agencies, direct supervision of CHILDREN’S BUREAU staff, community outreach,

and assuring contractual obligations are met.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide oversight and coordination of the daily operations and services/programs operating in or

under the auspices of the Family Resource Center

• Provides general supervision to staff assigned to the FRC, including recruitment, selection,

training, performance evaluation, corrective action, etc.

• Promote the FRC's mission to staff and volunteers; provide leadership to all FRC staff and agency

partners regarding FRC vision, mission, and priority initiatives

• Ensuring that contractual obligations are met; responsible for required program statistics,

database integrity, and required documentation being submitted accurately and timely to

funder.

• Carries out program management activities such as planning, staffing, budgeting, and program

development

• Provides administrative and clinical supervision of assigned staff and interns

• Identifies potential problems with program or function and develops possible solutions,

obtaining appropriate approvals when necessary

• Maintains positive external relationships related to program, including CHILDREN’S BUREAU

staff, collaborative partners, schools, community resources, etc.

• Performs community outreach through public speaking or other contacts or events

• Conducts regular meetings with FRC staff, the Steering Committee, the Community Action

Council and Case Management Team; attends all required FRC, CHILDREN’S BUREAU and FaCT

meetings and trainings

• Maintains on-site financial and program records in cooperation with FRC partners

• May provide direct services as needed based on the needs of the agency and FRC

• Keeps immediate supervisor informed regarding status of program

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• A Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, human services or related field from an

accredited four-year college or university. Masters Degree preferred

• Bilingual English/Spanish required

• Two or more years direct service experience

• Two or more years of management and supervisory experience

• Previous Case Manager experience preferred

• Good Communication Skills

• Working knowledge of budgets and grants strongly preferred

• Experience working with families, children and/or parents (volunteer/paid)

• Ability to use diagnostic skills to make assessments

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs

• Passion for serving the community.

Family Advocate I

Location: Oakview Family Resource Center, Huntington Beach

Division: Prevention
 
 

Provides Family Advocacy/Case Management Support Services for at-risk families, foster/adopt

and relative caregivers with children aged birth through eighteen (0-18) years including those

who are in crisis. Responsibilities include assessing families’ needs; developing an

empowerment plan; teaching families how to access community services; and coaching families

on parenting and daily living skills as needed for the safety and stability of their children.

Administers an assessment tool during client intakes and presents cases at weekly at Case

Management meetings. The Family Advocate is located at the Family Resource Center and

meets clients in the office, home, school or court, as needed.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist families in crisis situations such as immediate need for shelter, childcare, health care,

etc., by providing coordinated referral and case management services.

• Conduct a comprehensive intake and assessment to link families with necessary resources

and services to address identified needs.

• Provide strengths-based support and advocacy to assist families in meeting empowerment

plan goals.

• Collaborate with the Information and Referral staff and Case Management Team to

provide linkage and referrals to clients.

• Advocate for clients as needed, i.e., with CalWorks, MediCal, schools, courts and other

systems that clients interact with.

• Assist in the planning and execution of FRC events and special projects.

• Attend community meetings and/or agency/collaboration meetings as assigned.

• Maintain client files, logs, charts and other records as required by agency or funder.

• Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients.

• Maintain positive communications with all agency staff, funders, clients and visitors.

• Support existing agency policies, principles, and mission.

• Exercise good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors in Counseling, Social Work or related field from an accredited university

• Two years or more experience working with children and families and/or parenting;

community outreach with low-income moderate to high-risk families

• Knowledge of child development and community resources desirable

• Ability to relate to people of various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds

• Good organizational, follow-through and verbal/written communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs desirable

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

• Bilingual English/Spanish required

• Passion for serving the community.
