Every year, Orange County’s Child Abuse Prevention Council and the OC Blue Ribbon Committee host the Annual Blue Ribbon Art Contest for youth (6-18 years old).This art contest is a great opportunity for Orange County youth, schools, after-school programs, and other youth-based programs to participate in prevention by demonstrating their artwork. Winning artists and artwork will be selected by the Blue Ribbon Committee, and artists that win will receive various prizes including recognition throughout the Annual Blue Ribbon Month campaign, gift cards, art supplies, and a celebration!
The theme for the 2025 Blue Ribbon Art Contest is "What is Your Happy Place?" The packets, with information on the rules and guidelines for the contest, can be found below in English and Spanish. Artwork is due by 5:00 pm on February 28th, 2025 and can be sent to [email protected].

The Raise Foundation and Orange County’s Child Abuse Prevention Council collaborate with a number of community-based organizations and agencies to create and distribute Blue Ribbon Community Awareness Kits. The kits provide different supplies for various locations to host their very own Blue Ribbon Awareness events or to show support and solidarity throughout the month of April. These kits typically consist of:

Each year, Orange County community members can nominate individuals for the Blue Ribbon Award and Shining Light Award. The Blue Ribbon Award exemplifies the various Orange County child or family serving professionals who go above and beyond their call of duty to support children and families. Examples of professionals include teachers, law enforcement, social workers, doctors, nurses, nonprofit staff, and more.
The Shining Light Award represents community members who use their personal life to positively impact and enrich the lives of children and families in Orange County. Examples include youth leaders, faith-based community members, sport coaches, and many others.
2024 Award Winners include Blue Ribbon Award Winner, Hipolito Murillo from the Savanna School District and Shining Light Award Winner, Oak View FRC Volunteer Group.
